Equine Bodywork Initial Consultation

Before an Equine Bodywork Initial Consultation a series of questions about your horse and will be asked to discuss the horses history and any past or presenting problems. All information provided is treated in strict confidentiality.  There will an in depth gait and conformation analysis of the horse alongside any observations of muscle structure and alignments of the horse too.

A saddle fit check, farriery observation and possible lunge or ridden work may also be requested.

Following these observations a non invasive ‘whole body’ equine sports massage will be carried out consisting of soft tissue manipulation through a range of different strokes as well as trigger point and deep tissue work to help locate problem areas and work through them. Myofascial releases and stretching will also be carried out.

This treatments incorporates stretching exercises to help further adjust the posture and increases the horses range of motion.

An Initial Consultation usually lasts around 1.5 hours.

Equine Bodywork Follow-Up Treatment

An Equine Bodywork Follow-Up Treatment may be required depending on any problems found. This consists of the same techniques as your initial consultation and will allow the horse to accept deeper techniques as they become more accustomed to the work.

A Follow-Up treatment usually lasts around 1 hour.

Every treatment is tailored to suit each individual horse and pony and upon completion of every treatment you will receive further recommendations on any necessary future treatments.

Specific exercises will be recommended to do outside of the treatment to help keep your horse happy and to help keep any problems from re occurring.

Types of Equine Bodywork treatments?

  • Maintenance: ideal for horses in work to help improve overall wellbeing and movement and to reduce the risk of injury. Suggested to be used every few months.
  • Remedial/Rehabilitation: ideal for musco-skelatal problems or injuries (not substituting for veterinarian use). Usually consisting of 1 treatment every week for up to 4 weeks until only maintenance treatments are obtained.

Whole Body Sports Massage

An effective range of various massage techniques and strokes to stimulate circulation and ease any tight muscles or stiff joints. This will help calm your horse and help enhance their overall performance and well being.

Myofascial Release

A non-invasive hands-on technique to gently move connective tissue at the surface aiding in the release of fascia and helping the horses body to re-align itself.

Trigger Point & Deep Tissue Work

Trigger points are areas of pain and irritation and help indicate other related areas of soreness. Through releasing these areas and working on surrounding tissue deeply, toxins and any contracted muscle fibres are released.

Stretching

An essential part of an Equine Bodywork treatment. Ranging from shoulder, leg, hip and neck stretches each horse will benefit from stretching no matter what their capability is. Improving posture, movement, joint and tendon health and so much more.
